On April 16 & 17, 2015, the Family Run Executive Director Leadership Association (FREDLA) held a small group meeting titled Family-Run Organizations: A Key Strategy for Expanding Systems of Care. Over 30 family leaders and system of care stakeholders from 9 states attended the 1.5 day meeting to learn how the family-run organization is an integral part of any successful system of care for children, youth, and young adults with behavioral health needs and their families.

An esteemed panel of presenters were assembled for this meeting including Lisa Conlan from Parent Support Network in Rhode Island, Jane Kallal from Family Involvement Center in Arizona, Regina Crider from Youth & Parent Peer Support Alliance in Illinois, Millie Sweeney from Family Solutions Consulting in Tennessee, and Malisa Pearson and Jane Walker from FREDLA.Presenters

Participants learned about the importance of building strong collaborations, models and characteristics of family-run organizations, the importance of evaluation, finance strategies, and sustainability.
