On September 25 & 26, 2014, FREDLA held its first Annual Meeting in Bethesda, Maryland. Over 40 family leaders from over 20 states attended this historic event. On Friday evening, FREDLA held a networking dinner and during conducted elections to its Board of Directors. Seven new members were voted in. On Saturday, attendees spent the day hearing from national leaders including Paolo del Vecchio from SAMHSA and representatives from the National Council on Behavioral Health, the National Association of School Psychologists, the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD) and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Family leaders heard about the priorities of these national organizations and had the opportunity to dialogue with the representatives about issues of importance to Family Run Organizations.

FREDLA’s Annual Meeting was a huge success. Attendees provided overwhelmingly positive feedback. Comments included how much they enjoyed the opportunity to network with their peers, learn about other organizations, be a part of building a unified voice for family organizations and the opportunity to dialogue with national leaders.
